JUJUTSU Code of Conduct
These guidelines are designed to help us all learn and grow in a safe, positive, and fun environment where the emphasis is on the development of good character, self-esteem and physical fitness.
  • Always treat others with respect.
  • Practice humility. Recognize that you are a member of a group sharing common goals and interests and that progress is always achieved as part of a team.
  • Show respect for other’s beliefs and opinions.
  • Exercise self-control and self-respect.
  • Set a good example. Your behavior always sets an example for those students in lower ranks.
  • Practice cleanliness and order. The condition of your school is a reflection of its students, so be proud of your reflection.
  • Listen attentively to the Instructors.
  • Come early to class. It is always a good idea to give yourself extra time. Prompt and regular attendance shows respect to yourself and the others.
  • Remember that your actions outside the school reflect its character and spirit.
  • You are an ambassador of your school. Always behave appropriately with good manners and respect.
Etiquettes & Polices
  • Shoes must be taken off before entering the training area and left outside the class in neat lines. The exceptions are shoes that are special martial arts footwear approved by the Instructor, or if you have a medical condition that requires you to wear shoes at all times (see “Clothing” below).
  • Clothing: Students will be dressed appropriately for the lesson style. i.e. Gi, Obi (Belt) or Hakama for formal classes and casual training gear for informal classes, at least 10 minutes prior to going on the floor. STUDENTS IN THEIR FIRST CLASS – wear loose clothing. A new Kickboxing uniform will be provided on first or second day of training.
  • For the health and safety of others, Ken Shin Dojo is an alcohol and drug free environment.
  • Persons will bow in the appropriate manner upon entering the training area. Bow at the door as you enter and again as you leave. Bow before you step onto the training mats and again as you step off the training mats.
  • All students should be on the floor lined up in rank order and ready at least five minutes before class starting time. The most senior belts sets the first line. Age decides the position on the mat for students of the same rank. Lowest ranked students are at the rear of the mats.
  • If you are late for class, wait in ready stance at the door of the training area. When acknowledged by the Instructor, bow from the waist and await permission to join in.
  • Give your full attention to the Instructor during class.
  • ‘Mokuso’ is a term used to describe the state of mind the student should adopt in class. It is not just meditation, but an affirmation of respect for ourselves, our dojo, and a commitment to the Instructor to work hard during class. This should not be entered into lightly.
  • Students who are unable to attend class are requested not to call or leave messages for the Instructor or Assistant Instructor.
  • Students may not change in the class except their top uniform while wearing rash guard underneath.
  • Upon reaching the required level in the remaining sessions, students will be privileged for promotion test.
  • Any student who wishes to go for a promotion test needs to register earlier than the next term in addition to reaching the required training days.
